Program Description:

The Biodynamic Winter Intensive is a two-week course for farmers, gardeners, and those seeking a working relationship with the living land. During the Winter Intensive, The Nature Institute and Hawthorne Valley Farm Learning Center offer two complementary weeks of instruction for those wishing to gain a fuller understanding of Biodynamic agriculture.

Participants may choose to attend one or both sessions.

Sliding scale $450-250 per week or $800-400 for both sessions, includes morning snack and lunch. Work-study scholarships are available.

Week 1: February 12-17, 2012
Week 2: February 19-24, 2012

The first week of the Winter Intensive encourages participants to deepen their own observations in relation to the world of plants and to practice flexibility of thought as a means of becoming more perceptive land workers.

The second week focuses on concepts and practices more specifically related to biodynamic agriculture including the genesis and management of soils; the diversity of plant growth forms in relation to soil, climate and cosmos; ecological methods of weed management; and principles of crop rotation.

Various housing options are available including Bed & Breakfasts, motel and home stays. Prices vary from $25-85 per night.
