Michael Fields Agricultural Institute, located in East Troy, Wisconsin, is a public, non-profit with the mission to cultivate the ecological, social, economic, and spiritual vitality of food and farming systems through education, research, policy, and market development.

The North American Biodynamic Apprenticeship Program (NABDAP) is a program of the Biodynamic Association for beginning biodynamic and organic farmers. NABDAP combines two years of structured on-farm training and mentoring with a course of classroom study in biodynamics. NABDAP apprentices benefit from a comprehensive training curriculum, carefully selected mentor farms, and access to networking, support, and educational resources. Graduates of NABDAP are awarded a certificate in biodynamic farming from the Biodynamic Association.

The Sankanac CSA, part of Camphill Village Kimberton Hills in Chester County Pennsylvania, is looking for agricultural apprentices to help us with our Biodynamic gardens. We have immediate openings and are also accepting applications for 1 or 2 year apprentices to begin with us by April 1. Agricultural apprentices are welcome to join SAITA, a local initiative to provide education and farm tours to aspiring farmers. A monthly stipend is offered and the position can qualify interested applicants in the AmeriCorps Education Award program.

Love Apple Farms, a twenty-one acre farm in the Santa Cruz Mountains, teaches apprentices how to grow a vast array of fruits, veggies, herbs and edible flowers using biodynamic and organic farming practices. We have laying hens, dairy goats, and bee hives. We host classes on gardening, chicken keeping, composting, cooking, cheese-making, baking, and other homesteading skills. We are the exclusive farm for a world-renowned restaurant 12 miles from the farm.

Community Gardening Leadership Training seeks apprentices – Whidbey Island, WA
The Good Cheer Food Bank and the Learning from the Land program of the Whidbey Institute are partnering to offer an 8-month training in community gardening and leadership skills, from March 15 – November 15, 2012.

Uhane Aina - Spirit of the Earth Farm is located on the northeast corner of Kauai 50 yards from cliffs overlooking the ocean. The 16 1/2 acre farm is part of a 600 acre ag project. Our hallmark is diversity with mixed orchards, long and short term field crops, herbs, some tropical flowers and 300 Neem trees. Our produce is marketed locally at 2 farmers markets, 3 stores, and several CSA accounts. Only half the farm is planted so there is much room to expand orchards. We are currently looking for 2 gentle dairy cows primarily for compost production.

Hawthorne Valley Farm, a diversified, Demeter certified Biodynamic farm, is looking for farm apprentices for 2012.  Please see our website, www.hawthornevalleyfarm.org for more detailed information. Our apprentices work with and learn about the interrelationships between our milking herd of 60 grass-fed cows, our rotational grazing system, the twelve-acres of mixed vegetable fields, and get an overview of the administration of our 285-member Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.

Raphael Garden at Rudolf Steiner College has a position open for an apprentice to begin in early Fall. Apprenticeships last one or two entire years. The Apprenticeship Program at Rudolf Steiner College is held in conjunction with NABDAP (the North American Biodynamic Apprenticeship Program) and applicants who are, or will be, participating in the NABDAP program will be given preference.

We currently are searching for an individual to fill a farm intern position at Finca Luna Nueva (http://fincalunanuevalodge.com/). Located near the Arenal Volcano in northern Costa Rica, this farm focuses on growing ginger and turmeric on rotating plots of our agriculture land. The herbs are used for the production of organic whole food supplements for the company New Chapter. Bordering Costa Rica’s Bosque Eterno de los Ninos, the Finca encompasses both primary and secondary forest with hiking trails and habitat walks for those interested in learning more about rainforest ecosystems.
