Event Description

By creating a balanced and diversified biodynamic farm organism, we can develop high levels of soil fertility out of the farm's own resources, providing great flexibility in the mix of possible enterprises and ensuring financial stability over the long term. This workshop will track the development of the biodynamic orchards of Threshold Farm over 23 years of profitable operation with very low debt load. Hugh Williams will show how soil fertility and the mix of enterprises can be developed in parallel such that the main enterprise of the farm fulfills its promise and is buffered by a carefully calibrated mix of secondary activities. There will be plenty of hard data on all aspects of fruit growing, on our unique marketing model, and on crop rotation over decades, as we graft and plant out new orchards on a Keyline pattern.
