Joseph Brinkley holds a BS in economics from Virginia Commonwealth University and a BS in horticulture from Virginia Tech. He was first introduced to biodynamics in 2002 when he began his apprenticeship with Hugh Courtney at the Josephine Porter Institute for Applied Biodynamics (JPI). Joseph was on JPI staff from 2006 to 2007 before moving to California, where he has been making preparations and doing consulting work for vineyards transitioning to biodynamics. He is currently Director of Vineyard Operations at Bonterra Organic Vineyards, where he and his team farm almost 1,000 acres organically, one third of which is certified Biodynamic.
