Event Description

Featuring Gunther Hauk, Spikenard Farm and Honeybee Sanctuary; Tom Spaulding and Deb Crockett, Angelic Organics Learning Center; and Dana Burns, Farm-Based Educators Inspired by Anthroposophy

Founded in 1999, Angelic Organics Learning Center of Caledonia, Illinois, has grown into a thriving organization with a $1M + annual budget, providing farm based education to more than 4000 children, youth and adults annually, in both urban and rural settings.

In the morning session of this workshop, Angelic Organics Learning Center Co-founder Tom Spaulding and Senior Program Director Deb Crockett will host a tour of the Learning Center and share its amazing story of success.

After a delicious lunch we will turn from the outer, practical aspects of farm-based education, to the inner, philosophical aspects with Gunther Hauk, long term Waldorf gardening teacher, biodynamic practitioner and co-founder of the Pfeiffer Center and Spikenard Farm and Honeybee Sanctuary. Gunther will share from his 30+ years’ treasure chest of knowledge and experience leading children, youth and adults into a sacred relationship with the land.

To round out the day, Deb Crockett will provide a hands-on activity to engage our will and our own connectivity to the land and work. The day will conclude with another enticing meal and an opportunity to attend additional social festivities at Angelic Organics.

The workshop will begin at 9am and conclude at 5:45pm, followed by dinner (included in registration fee).

Buses are available to take participants from Madison to Angelic Organics and back. View bus information here.
