Compost is the key to all sustainable, ecological, organic and biodynamic agriculture, and good biodynamic compost is the centerpiece of the biodynamic method. In this workshop, biodynamic compost expert, educator, and consultant Jack McAndrew will explore the many needs that a farm and garden have for compost, and share several methods of making it. We will discuss the principles and practices of adding the biodynamic compost preparations 502 through 507 to your compost pile and learn how to put the working of the stars in the garden and field with specific suggestions for compost application

Presenter Information:

 

Jack McAndrew has been fascinated by agriculture since his childhood. Approximately 40 years ago he was given Rudolph Steiner's Agriculture lectures and the book changed his life. Jack has been mentored by Peter Duckor, Harris Porter and Alan Chadwick. Jack has been making biodynamic compost for over 4 decades, and in the last decade at Demeter certified One Gun Ranch in the hills of Malibu. In the last two years, he brought biodynamics to The Farm at Malibu, a new venture curated by Kerry Clasby.
