Event Description

Marketing earthly farm products need NOT result in commodifying them or ourselves! This workshop will explore the plant’s cycle in eight vegetable families grown in many northern-hemisphere gardens: alliums, umbels, legumes, composites, solanums, cucurbits, chenopods, and brassicas.

We will contemplate:

  1. Cosmic plant-world tapestry as inspiration echoing in earthly vegetable seed through archetypal plant forms;
  2. Social cosmopolitan influence of gardening with the plethora of cultural plant gems and how each vegetable family’s form influences our farming and social systems; and
  3. Envisioning waxing of stellar, quality-grown open-pollinated seed supply through careful growing and collaborative marketing.

Presenters include Brigida Baldszun, a career eurythmist; Heron Breen from the Organic Seed Alliance board and Fedco Seeds; and Beth and Nathan Corymb of Meadowlark Hearth Biodynamic Seed Initiative, aka founders of Turtle Tree Seed. Brigida will lead us in the plant’s (form) unfolding growth through eurythmy. Nathan, Beth, and Heron will share inspiration garnered through the professional experience of vegetable seed growing in varied climates and diverse distribution models. Threefolding lifts us out of our fixation on financial manipulation and quantifying of earthly/cosmic gifts from the spirit.
