Vegetable seed WEBSITE: meadowlarkhearth.org

Our farm has year round vegetable shares available as well as meat, milk, vegetable seed and bedding plants from our farm.

Know where your food comes from!

Our certified organic vegetables include heirlooms from our own seed as they come into season during the summer, and fall crops, storage crops, green house, overwintered and early spring crops for the Autumn/Early Winter and Late Winter/Spring shares.  Farm members are welcome to spend time enjoying the gardens, animals and natural areas on the farm and to have picnics of their own on our farm.

Autumn Seed Apprenticeship

Harvesting, Threshing, Handling, Cleaning & Germination Testing

Seed 2013

Five month internship: August 1 through 3rd week in December

Work with our trained seedsman, Nathan Corymb, in selecting, harvesting, threshing, handling though all the stages, cleaning and then germination testing our vegetable seed grown here on the farm. Includes both annuals and biennials, both dry and wet processing.

In 1991 Nathan trained with the first Biodynamic Seed Company in the world in Switzerland for one year.  He and his wife, Beth went on to found Turtle Tree Biodynamic Seed Initiative.  They returned to Beth’s family’s farm in 2010 to grow seed and make more biodynamic seed available.  Join them to learn what they have gleaned throughout the past 20 years.

Three positions are open for room and board.  Applicants must have experience in gardening or agriculture.  First consideration will be given to those applicants who come the soonest and are committed to staying the longest.
