Field Crew Leader and Crop Assistant Positions Available - Turtle Creek Gardens, Delavan, WI

Turtle Creek Gardens is a certified organic and biodynamic mixed vegetable operation serving a CSA market, direct markets to restaurants and stores including an on-line farm store. We grow approximately 40 different vegetables that serve a diversified marketing strategy as well as value-added products for our marketing channels.  We also grow an assortment of fruit and berries.  Biodynamics methods are applied which include design and establishment of hedgerows and perennial plantings, incorporation of manure and compost and biodynamic field sprays and compost preparations.  We do make some of the BD preps on the farm.  Turtle Creek is also an educational farm that offers educational opportunities for interns and employees through CRAFT, BDA Apprenticeship Program and on the job training.  Special interests or projects will be considered upon discussion and approval of farm manager.

Field Crew Leader

Field Crew Leader will lead harvests, weeding and transplanting crews during the vegetable growing season from April-mid November. Crews consist of seasonal workers and/or interns and worker shares. Field assistant will follow crop plan and weekly harvest schedules for CSA and direct markets. This position is also required to have flexibility to perform tasks as needed such as CSA pack out, assisting Field Operator with irrigation, and tending to perennial plantings which includes; pruning and mulching in the spring, high tunnel soil preparation, planting and trellising tomatoes. This is a small farm and requires all employees to ‘jump in’ as needed. Emphasis is on taking leadership with crews, harvesting to meet industry standards and quality control.
Duration of employment: March 15-November
Compensation commensurate with experience. This position is also eligible for profit sharing. Experience on vegetable operation required.

Crop Assistant
The Crop Production Assistant will manage the greenhouse transplant production and maintenance of greenhouse throughout the growing season. This position will also manage in all aspects of post harvest and handling of crops for distribution. Leadership and managing small relief crews and worker shares is expected.  All employees are required to be flexible to see to the needs of the operation which may include transplanting, harvesting, weeding, CSA packout if necessary.
Duration of Employment: March-November
Compensation commensurate with experience. This position eligible for profit sharing.
