About Earthlands:

Located near the Quabbin Reservoir in central Massachusetts, and surrounded by 4,000 acres of state-protected forest, Earthlands’ private setting is ideal for a broad range of gatherings. Far away from the hum of vehicles and the business of modern life, Earthlands lends itself to deep personal reflection, group development, and self-directed learning with the Earth.

Earthlands has served as an Earth-based education facility and a retreat center for personal transformation programs for over 25 years. With its wide range of accommodations and amenities, the property has supported college and university courses; retreats for organizations and individuals; festive seasonal gatherings; conferences, trainings, and workshops. The Lodge is also home to the University of the Wild.

The Land:

Earthlands is located on Nipmuk land of the First Nations People. It was relatively peaceful territory for over 8,000 years. Evidence of this Earth-connected culture still stands, at the Equinox Underground Chambers*. The blend of ancient stonework and recent installations of a Medicine Circle, Seven-Circuit Cretan Labyrinth, cairns, and standing stones add to the sacredness of the property. Early European settlers removed the primitive forest around 1730. Many Colonial-era trees remain.
