Take Part in Co-Housing Community Forming on Whidbey Island, WA
New co-housing community forming on beautiful Whidbey Island* off the coast of Washington. Walk or bike to Langley village and the seaside. Small-house focused, semi-rural, large biodynamic garden, Waldorf school in the community.
Join us and create a community of support and respect for people and the planet that benefits not only ourselves, but also the larger community. Share in the care and responsibility of the community amenities, including the commons house and common land (green space, gardens, trails, and landscaping). Partake in simple living, work parties, potlucks, and the many other good things and creative activities that our future residents will bring to this new intentional neighborhood!

Build your own home (975 sq ft max) in this pedestrian- oriented neighborhood on the edge of a beautiful meadow with mature second growth woods out your back door. Tiny homes are welcome!

We have 5 households so far and are looking for 11 more who want to become part of this creative 10-acre community.

Est. buy-in price: $75,000 (Land is $60,000; Contribution to build commons house with solar and community facilities is $15,000)

*Whidbey Island is a vibrant island community filled with art, music, theater, culture, holistic health practitioners, service-oriented non-profits, farmer’s markets, farms, and spiritual activities.

As the first development in the Langley Affordable Housing Ordinance, prospective owners need to income qualify as middle income our less. We were able to keep development costs lower and pass the savings through to the new members, keeping prices below market rates to income-qualified purchasers. The homes will be deed restricted to appreciate at a fixed rate so that the homes stay affordable in perpetuity. There will be a homeowners association with CCRs that guide the community.
