Technology: Tyrant, Toy, or Tool? The impact of technology on children’s health

Our world is changing rapidly, especially in the fields of technology and communication. We are surrounded by instant communication and information. Digital devices abound. Technology is encouraged as “the answer” in much of education from a very early age. Even carefully protected children feel the impact of technology’s emerging tools--whether as resources, or, in some cases, crutches. The technological tide has brought many conveniences and in many ways has made our lives richer and more productive. Yet we must ask: Are these innovations given freely or do they come at a price? Is modern technology a tool, a toy, or a tyrant?

Our theme is of great importance to everyone working with our children and young people in this time: the impact of technology on the health of children. Our keynote speaker, world-renowned author and expert Dr. Michaela Glöckler, will bring her wealth of experience and the results of research as she addresses this topic.
