Analyzing Forage Quality for Grazing Cows

Friday, March 22nd • 10:00 am–2:00 pm • Camphill Dairy • 1601 Pughtown Road, Kimberton PA [Chester County]

During this half-day workshop, we’ll discuss how to understand and evaluate forage quality for a grass-fed dairy herd with the help of Master Grazier Tom Trzcinski at Camphill Dairy who has begun closely studying his forage.

Joining the conversation will be Penn State Extension Forage Specialist Dr. Jessica Williamson—who speaks nationally on managing soil and pastures for better forage, and on the practical applications of forage testing—and Fertrell Company Forage Analyst Alyssa Walsh, who worked with Camphill Dairy to assess its forage tests through the lens of animal nutrition.

At the conclusion of this workshop, attendees should have a better understanding of how to read and evaluate forage tests, as well as best management practices for optimizing forage quality both in the field and in the barn.
