Biodynamic Medicinal Plant Self Care: The Inner Winter Life

Allow yourself to be rejuvenated and cared for this winter by deepening your inner life and your understanding of biodynamic medicinal plants. Laurie and Cyndi will teach a variety of self-care techniques using biodynamic principles and plant-based medicines.

Biodynamic Lifestyle Series

September 2017 - June 2018

This series is held one Saturday a month for 10 months from 9a-5p, with topics including biodynamic preparations, medicinal plant cultivation and remedies, beekeeping, compost fertility, seed saving, animal husbandry, cosmic rhythms and planting calendars, spring planting, plant pathology, and seasonal cooking and food preservation. The series is designed as a whole, but workshops can also be attended individually. Each workshop offers something for everyone, from beginners to experienced practitioners.

At the heart of our campus sits our integrated biodynamic farm. This includes the one-acre, Demeter-certified Raphael Garden and five acres of Demeter-certified pasture for our biodynamic animal husbandry program. Founded in 1987, the farm supports small-scale, year-round vegetable production, medicinal and culinary herbs, a seed-saving operation, and seasonal fruit. All in a beautiful serene setting.

Biodynamic Animal Husbandry

with Marney Blair and Lisa Bjorn

Explore the meaning of animal care from a biodynamic perspective. You will gain understanding of the importance of biodynamic animals as part of your lifestyle and the whole farm organism.

Biodynamic Seed Saving

with Harald Hoven

Learn how to cultivate, select and store seed for your farm or garden. Having grown seeds for Seed Initiatives such as Turtle Tree Seeds and Meadowlark Hearth seeds for many years, Harald will bring his insight, wisdom and practical skills to support you in starting to save seeds and to adapt them to your own microclimate.

Biodynamic Cosmic Rhythms and Spring Planting

Use the cosmic rhythms and a biodynamic planting calendar to help plan your spring planting. This workshop will introduce you to and deepen your understanding of the cosmic rhythms and how they influence plants, water and you.

Deepen your understanding of biodynamic principles in compost fertility management. Whether you are a backyard gardener or a large-scale farmer, you will better manage the plants you grow when you look at compost as a living being and as a part of your life.

Biodynamic Plant Pathology: An Introduction to Disease Prevention and Pest Management through Plant and Soil Vitality

with Cyndi Pointer and Bradley Tonnessen, Ph.D

Learn how to prevent disease and pests through biodynamic cover cropping, crop rotation, and other management techniques. We will discuss how disease occurs, why pests are present, and practical biodynamic techniques to support the health of the farm organism.

Biodynamic Seasonal Nutrition and Cooking

with Cyndi Pointer

Support yourself in the coming months by learning food preservation techniques and how to plan and time your summer, so that nutrient-dense biodynamic food you grow can support you year-round.
