Building Healthy Soil in a Healthy Foodshed: A Winter Retreat for Farmers and Other Food Lovers

The Institute for Mindful Agriculture will host a winter retreat for farmers and other food lovers, exploring the question: How can we scale a regenerative food system? We believe through the growth of bioregional foodsheds! Our winter retreat offers the opportunity to delve deeply into this question within the mini foodshed of Hawthorne Valley Farm and Columbia County, NY. We will focus on soils—literally the ground of our existence—through a spiritual, scientific and artistic lens. The program provides ample space for learning, personal reflection and collaborative problem solving through various awareness-based practices.

Presenters include: the IMA team — Steffen and Rachel Schneider, Ursula Versteegen & Jill Jakimetz; Plus Will Brinton, founder & President of Woods End Lab; Developer of the Solvita® soil test and one of the earliest biodynamic researchers in North America.

The retreat will take place at Hawthorne Valley Farm from Sunday, February 18 through Friday, February 23. There is sliding scale fee of $750-$500, which includes lunch and dinner.
