In his recently published book Humanity’s Last Stand: The Challenge of ArtificialIntelligence: A Spiritual Scientific Response, Nicanor Perlas tackles the existential risk humanity faces as a result of the rapid development of machine-created Artificial Intelligence. Although still in its early stages, artificial intelligence (AI) is in the process of radically transforming all aspects of education and society. With the imminent emergence of Artificial Super Intelligence and the accompanying illusory temptations of transhumanism, humanity stands at a crossroads, and Nicanor makes an urgent plea in his book and his worldwide lecture tours and workshops that we take immediate steps to ensure that digitized technology is aligned to human values and priorities. Otherwise, such artificial super intelligence may transform humanity into its own image and kill our human essence.
Nicanoris a winner of the Right Livelihood Award for the global impact of his work, and is a globally known social activist, biodynamic farmer, writer and speaker on artificial intelligence, advocate for threefolding and sustainable development, and spiritual scientist.
