Register to join a local field trip at the 9th National Farm to Cafeteria Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio this April! Explore the Ohio area food system and farm to institution landscape through 11 experiential field trips, including: College Farms That Feed & Inspire Students Experience how colleges in Ohio are making sustainable choices on campus and engaging students in local food systems with visits to Wilmington College and Antioch College. Explore student-run greenhouses and hoop houses, a food forest, composting sites, and hear first hand how students are engaging in rural life issues and training to become the next generation of food and agricultural leaders. Dairy Day: Farm to Table to Classroom and Beyond Take a deep dive into all things dairy! Visit Ed-Mar Dairy in Walton, Kentucky, where you’ll meet 50 Holstein cows and learn about Ed-Mar Dairy’s Farmstead Cheese – which you’ll enjoy during a tasty local lunch. On your tour, learn about the journey milk takes from farm to table, and pick up new nutrition education practices that can be taught in the classroom, farmers markets or through other grassroots efforts. Feeding and Employing Your Neighbors Learn about Cincinnati’s bioregion and efforts to build a resilient future - one plant, one person, and one community at a time. On your tour with the Cincinnati Permaculture Institute, you’ll visit the city’s oldest public forage garden, an edible perennial nursery, and a second-hand construction store addressing workforce reentry through a partnership with the Institute.
