SMALL-SCALE ORCHARDING FOR THE HOMEOWNER 2014

4 seasonal workshops on tree fruit growing at Brook Farm Orchard
Located in the Apple Valley section of Ashfield, Massachusetts
Taught by orchardist Alan Surprenant

WORKSHOPS WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING TOPICS

WORKSHOP #1 March 15, 2014: Variety selection, site selection, site preparation and hands-on pruning in orchard.
WORKSHOP #2 April 26, 2014: Tree planting, spraying for pests and disease and grafting. You will complete the workshop with a fruit tree you've grafted to take home and plant.
WORKSHOP #3 TBA: Fruit harvest, varietal tasting, storage of fruit and fresh cider making (bring containers).
WORKSHOP #4 TBA: Mowing, composting, fertilizing, rodent control and tasks for the orchard year. Orcharding resource sharing.

Last but not least, local hard cider tasting after each workshop!

Each workshop is $80.00 per person/ prepaid. Workshop will run from 10 am to 4 pm. Coffee, tea, cider and morning snacks provided. Bring your own brown bag lunch. There is a 12 person limit per workshop.
