Celebrating Social and Ecological Justice in the Heartland

Food enthusiasts and producers are invited to come together at the 2018 Tri-State Local Food Summit at Sinsinawa Mound 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10. Join us for Celebrating Social and Ecological Justice in the Heartland. From healthy soil to racial justice, native food sovereignty to edible landscaping, the day is about educating, inspiring, challenging, and connecting—with people, the land, and a more just food system. The summit includes talks, break-out sessions, networking opportunities with exhibitors, and a locally sourced lunch.

Saturday, February 10, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fee: $25 Registration deadline is February 2.

Keynote speakers are Autumn Brown and Scott Koepke. Brown has over 10 years of experience facilitating organizational and strategic development with community-based and movement organizations. Koepke teaches life skills through gardening in the “Handcuffs to Hand Plows” program at the Linn County Detention Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and the Iowa Medical and Classification Center in Coralville, a prison.
