Golden Bridges School is a small, independent school working out of Waldorf pedagogy, offering affordable education to the southern neighborhoods of the city. 60% of our curriculum is outdoors and we spend multiple days a week cultivating a ¾ acre plot of land. We are seeking an experienced outdoor educator/farmer to support the growth and development of our outdoor program.

Teaching and Farming Responsibilities
Develop and teach curriculum, with the support of the classroom teachers, for 2 mornings a week for 16 Kindergarteners (age 4,5 &6)
Develop and teach curriculum, with the support of the classroom teachers, for first and second grade classes for 2 afternoons a week, approximately 20 children.
Maintenance and care of “classroom” portion of the farm including watering, weeding, harvesting, etc.
Input on development of expanding campus on the ¾ acre piece of property.
Collaborate with teachers in each program for curriculum development
Attend weekly faculty meetings
Attend two parent meetings per school year to present outdoor curriculum to parent body
Participate in Outdoor Program Faculty Committee
Act as liaison, along with school Administration, with the Farm Manager. Or serve as temporary Farm Manager.
Certification in basic child and adult first aid and CPR.
In coordination with farm manager, plan multiple family work-days during the year.
Experience with, and interest in, Waldorf education and pedagogy a huge plus
Able to work collaboratively
Strong grasp on child development and age appropriate activities
Love of bringing children and urban farming together
Organized, initiative taker with a clear understanding of timelines
Speaker of another language; interest in integrating language, culture and farming with children
Example Weekly Schedule
Monday, 12-2:30 - Leading activity for 1st or 2nd grade class
Tuesday, 9-12 - Leading activity for Kindergarten group AND farm maintenance (1 hour activity, 3 hours maintenance)
Tuesday, 2-4 - Faculty meeting
Thursday, 9-2:30 - Leading activity for Kindergarten group for one hour in the morning, farming maintenance mid-day, leading activity for the 1st or 2nd grade in the early afternoon
Non-farm hours - e-mails, coordination, etc. at any time during the week
