Farming couple involved in biodynamics and the Camphill movement for many years, are seeking colleagues (esp.w/families) to join our new agriculture-based venture in Mid Coast Maine. Our own personal focus will be growing vegetables and fruit, and the regeneration of the farm in it’s entirety. We are looking for a dairy farmer and /or cheese maker, a baker, and someone interested in a forestry-based business to complement our vegetable operation.
Along with Northeast Farm Access (NEFA), we are under contract with current owners, Maine Farmland Trust, to purchase a 480 acre farm which sits at the edge of the hamlet of Unity, ME, home of MOFGA and the annual Common Ground Fair.
Our intention is to convert the old dairy farm to full biodynamic management. With NEFA we are working to set up a multiple operator lease arrangement w/ equity building potential which will encourage colleagueship and foster collaboration. Currently in the process of registering a farm-based non-profit that will provide for the development of educational / life skills programs for disadvantaged youth, aged 16-22. Our mission is to be of value to our community by working towards local food security and educational support of young people.
All serious inquiries welcome.
