Hello from Alexandria, VA, at Potomac Crescent Waldorf School, (PreK-5)
I'm an active member of BDA and an active BD gardener and sometimes farmer. My school (Potomac Crescent Waldorf School) started a BD garden, 1080 sf, on Nov 5th, 2016. We added BD compost and BD soil from White Rose Farm in MD, and wrote grants for seeds, fencing, and materials for a compost bin. Parents, a few teachers and school children built the compost bin, spread BD compost, sprayed BD preps and sowed seeds form Johnny's Seeds. (another grant)
We were entered into a contest sponsored by Edible CD, by one of our former boards members. We are ranked in the top three finalists in the Best School Garden Category....from seed to harvesting in 7 months and we continue to harvest this fall selling our BD produce and flowers to parents at pick up time.
Here's the link to vote for our garden: edibledc.com/awards/
We are on only BD garden in the contest and we're in the top three finalists.
