Light Root Community Farm is a draft horse powered, biodynamic farm and dairy located in Boulder, CO. We are offering a year round apprenticeship position on our grass-based farm and raw milk dairy CSA (herd share program), starting early Fall 2020 (start date flexible). Apprenticeship is a full immersion work to learn experience. The dairy apprenticeship will involve daily milking chores, cow feeding, compost making, raw milk handling and bottling, rotational grazing systems, & herd health management. Light Root Community Farm utilizes draft horse power for soil tillage and cultivation, mowing and raking hay, and general farm work. Apprentices interested in draft horse work will have the opportunity to learn basic harnessing and ground driving on the farm, (second year apprentices have the option to take on more draft horse work). The Farm also raises organic pastured chicken eggs, an acre of mixed vegetables, a small grazing herd of kune kune pigs, and we offer a variety of farm education programs to local waldorf and public schools in the area. We are looking for someone enthusiastic about all of the different elements of the farm, with an openness to learning and deepening your understanding of biodynamic agriculture through practical experience. We are seeking someone committed to seriously pursuing a path in farming and looking to expand your skills in small dairy and diversified farm systems.
