We are looking for a Gardener for your garden here at Triform Camphill Community. Triform is a Camphill Community for young adults with developmental disabilities. We are a life-sharing community, working together to enrich our lives through meaningful work and communtity.
The applicant (single and families welcomed) would live in one of our eight houses and share daily life with young adults with developmental disabilities as well as international volunteers. Similarly, the work in the garden would be along side four to six young adults with developmental disabilities and three to five volunteers, generally young adults from all over the world, offering a year of service. The garden work is a balance of therapeutic work and of production for our 100-person community, plus a small CSA for our employees .
Knowledge and skill in managing biodynamic/organic garden; knowledge and skill in working with people with special needs; communication skill to be able to work with other land workers such as farmer and estate workmaster. The ideal candidate is social, has enthusiasm for and interest in learning ever more about both working with people of all abilities and for biodynamic regenerative vegetable production. A couple seasons of market gardening experience is a plus. Further training in both Biodynamics and care for people with developmental disabilities is available.
Running of the biodynamic/organic garden; be a workleader for a group of the people with special needs who work in the garden; plan and coordinate the work crew that includes people with special needs and volunteer coworkers.
People live in large extended family-style households, sharing space, daily life and seasonal festivals.
This is a volunteer position. Our community is a life sharing community. Compensation is needs based and can include vehicle and health insurance.
