Farm Manager, High Falls ,NY

Farm Manager

We’re Callisto Farm. Our 63-acre property is located in the vibrant hamlet of High Falls, NY and has rolling hills, open pasture, a handful of historic barns and a vibrant market garden and young orchard.

We are going into our third season of growing produce, berries and cut flowers.

We operate using spray-free no-till methods. Our harvest and wildflower honey are used for on-site events and sold in local shops. An orchard with young (5-year old) fruit trees is growing. We are a small team with big dreams.

Our produce and property engage a wide array of individuals by way of wellness retreats, chef events, pop-up dinners and nature experiences. We aim to use beautiful produce and a serene natural environment to create meaningful experiences. Responsible land stewardship and community engagement are important to us.

The role: We are looking for an inspired individual to manage a half-acre market garden and small orchard. An incredible opportunity to work with not just annual vegetables, but perennial vegetables, cut flowers, berries and fruit trees on a beautiful piece of land with views of Mohonk and the Ridge.

Specifications: We are ideally looking for someone with a minimum of three years of growing experience with interest in and knowledge of permaculture, high-density planting and fruit tree care. Manager would create and execute crop plans that include 4-season growing, plant, tend and harvest, be responsible for fertility management, pest control, weed control and cover cropping as well as manage other workers.

Room to grow, with opportunities to manage pasture and livestock, partner with chefs and help bring creative events to life.

This is a flexible part or full-time position spring through fall. Part-time winter position. Compensation based on experience.

Key qualities: Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends. Proficiency in Spanish a big plus, as is a great sense of humor and good record keeping. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in all weather a must.
