New Hampshire Sustainable, Organic Family Farm/CSA Seeks Interns/Apprentices
Herban Living Farm seeks hard-working, passionate self-starters for long or short-term intern/apprentice positions. Learn all aspects of running a small, but growing sustainable, diversified organic family farm. Responsibilities and activities include: seedling propagation, planting, weeding, harvesting, cover cropping, rotations, irrigation, landscaping, building a root cellar, marketing, retailing, working with CSA members and other customers, chicken care, dairy goat milking and processing. Compensation includes on-site housing; board and stipend dependent on commitment and activities of applicant.
We are located on 150 acres of mostly forested land in Southern New Hampshire. With plenty of local hiking and swimming, we are one-and-a-half hours from the seacoast and the White Mountains. We have a CSA, attend one farmer's market per week and have on-site sales. We cultivate one acre of vegetables, are installing a one acre blueberry/raspberry site, make goat cheese and yogurt, sell organic pastured eggs and chickens, medicinal herbs, soaps, candles and flowers. We are preparing an additional four acres for rotating pasture and vegetable production. A portion of our harvest is provided to local families who would otherwise not have access to fresh produce. Our vision includes further developing Herban Living Environmental Educational Center and incorporating biodynamic practices. Your experience will include seeing how our farm and Monadnock region farmers work toward building community and cooperation.
