Sisters Hill Farm is seeking 2 dedicated hardworking apprentices for the 2008 growing season. We are a ten year old non-profit 200 share organic CSA, farming on 5 acres in Dutchess County, NY. This CSA is part of the Sisters of Charity’s expanded mission of environmental justice. The Sisters have helped the poor for over a century and the farm fits in perfectly; we donate up to ten percent of the food grown here.
Nestled in the hills of the Hudson Valley, Sisters Hill Farm is a place of pastoral beauty. The farm is a diverse and organized intensively grown space. These apprenticeships are a perfect opportunity for someone that strives to learn how to efficiently and innovatively farm a small area and grow quality produce for appreciative consumers.
We offer housing on the farm, a stipend of $1,000/month, and farm produce. In addition to these benefits, there are numerous learning opportunities, including the CRAFT apprenticeship program that tours other farms in the region throughout the season and access to the farm’s extensive library. We are looking for apprentices from April 1st to November 1st. Call, write, or e-mail for further information. Dave is also building a home he designed for his family. Interns interested in learning about construction are welcome to volunteer.
