Farm Description
We are a diversified biodynamic farm raising beef and dairy cattle, pigs, turkeys, chicken, bees and horses. We grow vegetables for our vegetable CSA (community supported agriculture) – a program where people become a member of our garden for the season and pick up their vegetable share weekly. We are in the process of building a cheese-making facility which we will start operating in early spring of 2009. Our farm is located in the idyllic New England landscape of forests and stonewalls in southeastern Connecticut – while it is only 10 miles to the coast and both New York City and Boston are not even 2 ½h away.

Position:
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone with a strong interest in Waldorf Education, healthy nutrition and biodynamic farming. You will take care of our 2 year old son. We are usually around – working on the farm – but very busy. You will need to familiarize yourself with the principles of Waldorf Education and be able to structure the daily routine accordingly. We place great importance on rhythmic structures, free creative play and imagination, involvement of children in household activities and ample playtime outdoors.
Responsibilities will include:
• Responsible and loving childcare usually from 7am to 1 pm; all day childcare for the month of June
• Structuring of daily activities according to Waldorf principles
• Cooking and baking: baking fermented bread every morning and preparing a simple lunch for the farmers
• Other than in June, 3-4 afternoons/week should be spend with the farmers in the field

Time off: 1 afternoon/week and 3 weekends/month

Compensation
According to au-pair standards, we will pay $180/week as well as room and board.

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a loving and caring, creative and harmonious young person with an interest in Waldorf Education and Biodynamic Farming.

When does it start?
You should be able to stay for at least three months starting mid April until mid July, or longer if possible.
