Rural Roots seeks a full-time Executive Director to work from the organizationâ€™s office in Moscow, Idaho. Founded in 1997, Rural Roots is a dynamic 250-plus member organization that serves the state of Idaho, eastern Washington, and eastern Oregon by supporting and enhancing sustainable agriculture and local food systems. Rural Roots annual budget has ranged from $120,000 to $200,000 over the last five years. Our programmatic and education goals are based on long-term partnerships with regional universities, state and federal agencies, non-profit organizations, farmers, ranchers and producers.
Executive Director Position Description
The ideal candidate will have experience developing, managing and growing a nonprofit membership organization. In addition to anticipating and responding to educational and advocacy needs within the regionâ€™s food system, the Executive Director will be the public and passionate voice for the Inland Northwestâ€™s sustainable and organic farmers and ranchers. Accordingly, the candidate must be a confident and capable communicator who values the cultivation of relationships with media, donors, allied NGOs, government agencies, and sustainable and organic growers and producers. Building on the foundation of an excellent 11-year organizational track record, the new Executive Director will lead Rural Roots to become the regionâ€™s primary advocate for, and central figure in, the development of sustainable community food systems.
