Amber Lippert and Jonah Bloch put their five years of organic farming experience to start their own Camas Swale Farm in 2009. They started out leasing two acres of fallow land with no infrastructure and no tractor. Today they lease 35 acres from the Biodynamic Association, where they grow produce and raise laying hens for CSA, farmers market and restaurants. What happened in between was a lot of research on land use laws and loan opportunities, collaboration and some risk taking. What will happen in the future is still unfolding, but they are learning a lot along the way and are seeing success in their slow growing farm enterprise.
