In 1998 Craig Holdrege, Ph.D., spearheaded the founding of The Nature Institute ( and is the Institute’s Director. During the past 30 years he has carried out studies of plants and animals using the Goethean phenomenological method and has also worked to develop a phenomenological, context-based understanding of heredity and genetics. Craig gives talks and workshops nationally and internationally. He is the author of books and articles on holistic science and has also written extensively about genetic engineering and its "solutions" to food and agriculture problems. His most recent book, co-authored with Steve Talbott, is Beyond Biotechnology.
