Great Lakes Indigenous Farming Conference

Theme: From Earth to Table: Reclaiming Indigenous Foodways
The White Earth Land Recovery Project invites proposals for workshops, presentations, and panels for the 2026 Great Lakes Indigenous Farming Conference (GLIFC). This year’s theme, From Earth to Table: Reclaiming Indigenous Foodways, will highlight the importance of food sovereignty, cultural revitalization, and the reintegration of traditional foods into daily life.
We welcome farmers, seed keepers, knowledge holders, educators, youth leaders, community organizers, and food sovereignty advocates to share their knowledge, practices, and stories that strengthen Indigenous food systems and wellness.
Conference Tracks
- Revitalizing Traditional Foodways & Ecological Knowledge
- Seed saving, traditional farming practices, and ancestral food knowledge
- Ecological stewardship, soil health, and sustainable land practices
- Intergenerational learning and transmission of Indigenous knowledge
- Indigenous Food Sovereignty & Community-Based Farming Solutions
- Models of community farms, cooperatives, and collective food systems
- Policy, advocacy, and pathways to strengthen tribal food sovereignty
- Tools and resources to support grassroots and community-driven food initiatives
- Cultural Wellness & Resilience
- Healing through food, culture, and ceremony
- Restoring balance, resilience, and wellbeing in our communities
- The role of food sovereignty in climate change adaptation and community health
- Youth Presentation
Proposal Guidelines
- Presentation Formats: Workshops, demonstrations, panels, or storytelling sessions
- Length: 75 minutes
- Audience: Participants will include Indigenous farmers, community members, youth, and allies working to strengthen Native food systems across the Great Lakes and beyond.
- Deadline for Proposals: November 15, 2025
- Notification of Acceptance: December 5, 2025
Submission Instructions
Please submit a proposal including:
- Title of your session
- Track (select one of the four above)
- Presenter(s) name(s), tribal/community affiliation, and short bio (100 words)
- Session abstract (250 words maximum) or full proposal
- Any equipment or space needs

The Great Lakes Indigenous Farming Conference is a space of knowledge sharing, cultural revitalization, and community building. We invite you to be part of reclaiming Indigenous foodways and carrying this work from earth to table.
Presenters will receive one free night of lodging and one day of meals provided by White Earth Land Recovery Project.
