Location

Our Table Cooperative (bus leaves from Red Lion)

Event Description

This field day will first visit Our Table Cooperative, a multi-stakeholder cooperative composed of three different interests along the food production chain: workers on their farm, regional producers, and consumers. Our Table is based on 58 acres of land located about 15 miles south of Portland, raising certified organic vegetables, berries, apples, and pastured chickens and eggs, and working toward Demeter Biodynamic certification. At the center of the farm is a grocery and kitchen, offering food from the farm as well as regional producers who are members of the cooperative.

After a farm-to-table lunch prepared by Our Table, we will visit the Native Gathering Garden at Cully Park and participate in a hands-on activity, hosted by Portland Parks and PSU Indigenous Nations Studies Dept. Brought to life though community vision, the Native Gathering Garden is a catalyst for strengthening our relationships with plants, while healing places. By providing a space for community to gather, host cultural celebrations, and engage in Indigenous land practices, the Native Gathering Garden is reclaiming the urban forest. This work is rooted in respecting and educating though Indigenous cultural values, honoring those that came before us and tended this land, as well as building upon our inheritance for future generations.

On-farm lunch and transportation are included in the registration fee.

Much of this event will take place outdoors, rain or shine. Please dress for inclement weather and wear sturdy shoes.

Space is limited and we expect this event to sell out early.
