Tractor Operator / Property Manager

Job Summary: Reporting to the General Manager and Head Winemaker, the Tractor Operator / Property Manager is a hands-on position assisting in the day-to-day operation of the Estate property and vineyard.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Vineyard Operations and Logistics (60%):• Assists with management of the vineyard and site operations ensuring timely completion of all necessary tractor practices with the goal of producing superior quality fruit.• Work with head winemaker to execute growing season tractor work, which will include: spray program applications, mowing, under vine cultivation, between vine cultivation, compost and soil amendment applications, and seeding.• Ensure that all equipment maintenance needs are met to support the viticultural operations.• Coordinate procurement of vineyard and vineyard development supplies and materials.• Seasonally dependent early and/or long days may be required during frost, spray and harvest seasons. For the 3-4 week harvest period, weekend work is very likely.Property Management (40%):• Proactively provide recommendations for and execute implementation for management of non-vineyard areas of the property, including maintaining roads, ponds, drainage, orchards and natural areas.• Respond to maintenance and repair needs for the buildings and farm infrastructure on the property, including the tasting room, residences, winery and pumphouse.• Implement approved capital projects.• Implement all actions needed to adhere to local, state and federal ordinances as it relates to vineyard development, water usage and chemical practices.• Manage defensible space and company wildland fire protection program• Coordinate with the vineyard team on Estate to assist with ongoing landscaping management and projects.Supervisory Responsibilities:• NoneJob Requirements:

Skills: Farm equipment operation and maintenance experience. Basic computer, skills and abilities (Word/word processing, EXCEL/spreadsheet). Excellent follow through and project management skills. Ability to work well with people at all levels in the company. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Team-oriented. Able to prioritize and organize, meet deadlines with accuracy,  and work independently with a hands on approach.Knowledge: Viticulture and Maintenance OperationsPhysical: Able to: travel by car/truck, able to work in various weather conditions throughout the year; physically able to lift and carry 40 lbs. and work flexible schedules (including early daytime, evening, weekends).Other: Proven ability to install a positive outlook in all relationships and activities. Sensitive to neighbor relations as it pertains to operations at the vineyard. Strong interest in wines and winegrowing, and a desire to constantly learn more about the industry and field. At a minimum, experience with sustainable farming and preferably and interest in organic or biodynamic farming.The above information is representative of the work performed in this position, however it is not all-inclusive.
