Farmer Consultant for Ecovillage in Jamaica

The Source Farm Foundation and Learning Village is a multi-cultural, intergenerational eco-village, located in Johns Town, in the parish of St. Thomas, Jamaica.

The Source Farm is seeking a biodynamically trained farmer for a 6-12 month position, to help get the farm off the ground and train locals in biodynamic farming. This would be a great position for a farmer who is not ready to start his or her own farm yet, and would enjoy spending some time on this beautiful island.

The Source Farm Mission

The mission of The Source Farm Foundation and Ecovillage is to be an innovative model community that is dedicated to respecting and creating balance and harmony with plants, animals and humans. It is our mission to create an innovative farm that will provide organic fruits, vegetables, nuts and herbs for our residents and our Community Sponsored Agriculture (CSA) community.

The Source Farm Vision

The Source Farm Foundation has great vision for the farm. The farm has adopted a permaculture design model and will be an organic farm; following all the current organic standards. The farm will provide traditional table vegetables, fruit from the farm's orchard, herbs, flowers and poultry and eggs. The farm is designed to allow workers and guests easy access to the farm beds to see/work with the crops that are in production. The farm will also provide many opportunities to teach/share a variety of natural farming methods to the community and its CSA members. The farm will provide a natural sanctuary for residents and visitors.

Type of Farm

The farm is an organic farm adhering to all the guidelines of Jamaica's national organic standard and natural farming methods. The farm grows vegetable crops, fruit & nut trees, and maintains a substantial bee population as well as a poultry house.
