We will first travel to Tesuque Pueblo, north of Santa Fe, where Emigdio Ballon and members of the Pueblo have developed farm fields, orchards, greenhouses, compost, and a seed bank, incorporating traditional pueblo agriculture as well as permaculture and biodynamics. Participants will help with several hands-on projects at the Pueblo and then enjoy lunch together at the farm.
After lunch, we will travel to a neighborhood on Santa Fe's southern edge to visit The Succulent Garden, Sam Hitt's diverse, thriving small-scale market garden and nursery. We'll see many examples of season extension including cold frames and tunnels, intensively grown vegetables in raised and in-ground beds, a wide variety of succulent plants, as well as chickens and compost.
Registration includes bus transport departing from the Santa Fe Convention Center.
The workshop fee does not include meals. If you would like a boxed lunch, please sign up for Wednesday lunch or the Wednesday - Sunday meal package when you register.
