Reclaiming Resilience

“Winter is the time when we delude ourselves into thinking that the coming year will be one of clean fields, abundant moisture, bumper crops and few, if any, problems.”

This sentiment from Vic Madsen, who farms near Audubon, is common fiction we as farmers fabricate in the quiet, rejuvenating winter months. Farmers’ best laid plans are vulnerable to disruption each year: weather, pests and market volatility, to name just a few, can lead to crop and livestock losses and diminished returns.

The conference will be March 30-31 at the campus of Montana State University in Bozeman, Montana, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains.

Our next meeting will take place as usual after the Agriculture Conference 2020 on Sunday, 9th February and on Monday 10th February. We will organize a training day on the Demeter International Production Standards with specialists from Demeter International and with experts from our advisory group.

2020 Theme: The Four Elements and the Farm Individuality

Using Rudolf Steiner’s agriculture course as a foundation, we will delve into the qualities and mysteries of earth, air, fire, and water: how they guide the processes of life, and how they work creatively on the farm, helping to build and hold the biodynamic farm individuality.

We will work in large and small groups, through art, movement, observation exercises, and hands-on activities.
