Gloria along her husband Stephen apprenticed with Alan Chadwick in UCSC in 1967 and later in Round Valley, helping to start the Covelo Village Garden. They were also founding members of the Biodynamic Association of Northern California (BDANC), which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. In 1973 they founded Live Power Community Farm, a 50-acre biodynamic farm organism using draft horses, solar electric power, and on-farm generated compost to maintain diverse livestock, hay, pasture, and grain and feed 100 household CSA community. In 1995 with the help of their CSA community, they designed and implemented a specialized agricultural conservation easement that permanently dedicates LPCF’s land to active biological, agricultural use and limits its resale value to create permanent affordability to successive farmers.
