The biodynamic preparations and compost are vital tools any farmer can use enhance the life and health of the farm, especially in the face of such challenges as radiation, chemical use and pesticide residues. In this workshop we will delve into each of the nine biodynamic preparations – how they are made, their relationship to elements and processes within the farm organism, and their use both in and independent of a composting program, including compost teas and the Biodynamic Compound (BC) preparation. We will discuss on-farm composting methods at a variety of scales, from a small-scale farm to commercial compost production. Throughout the day we will include hands-on demonstrations and emphasize ways you can easily incorporate both the preparations and composting into your farm or garden to increase the vitality of the soil and the food you grow.
