Lokelani 'Ohana is looking for people who are passionate about organic gardening and love working on the aina “land” to join a 19 year Camphill inspired initiative on Maui.

Responsibilities:

Coordinating work with the gardening calendar, implementing overall organic practices: maintaining soil health, planting, harvesting, compost building, preparation applications, and record keeping.

Participate with interviewing, training, and working with the farm crew.

Coordinating deliveries of produce for markets and food hubs for distribution.(possible CSA).

Organize inventory, materials, tools, and supplies.

Have a good relationship with farm equipment ie, maintenance, manage repairs.

Knowledge and maintenance of the irrigation system. Our water comes from mountain river water. We have a sand filtration system with a fifteen thousand gallon water tank.

Removing invasive species, pest management.

Work is 5-6 days per week, 5 to 6 hours a day, could be more if you have experience and ability to run an internship program, offer farm tours, and teach classes,

Network with the Maui community, ie: attend Maui Farmers Union meetings.
We offer:

Private cottage (valued at $1200 which is evaluated at 15 hr. of labor per week,)

We provide Utilities (average $200 a month per person, equalling 10 hours of work a month.) Everyone shares in buying propane for cooking and showering.

Salary is $20/hr., minimum amount of hours is 25 per week ( Salary is $600 a month) and there are plenty of opportunities to make more money leading farm tours and classes.
There is a communal farm kitchen, bathroom, and outdoor enclosed shower (see the stars at night!).There will be a one-month orientation period provided by the present farm manager. We are a drug free zone and smoking is not allowed on the property.
