Lokelani 'Ohana is looking for people who are passionate  about organic gardening and love working on the aina “land” to join a 19 year Camphill inspired initiative on Maui.

This is a work trade opportunity. Work is 22.5 hours per week on the farm in exchange for a private cottage and shared facilities. 

If you are :

• Mature with good social and communication skills,

• Have Excellent management skills with all people and the farm,

• Well organized,

• Don’t mind working in a warm, humid, rainy environment,

• Willing to learn about the native environment, tropical plants and seasons.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinating work with the gardening calendar, implementing overall organic practices: maintaining soil health,  planting, harvesting, compost building, preparation applications, and record keeping.

• Coordinating deliveries of produce for markets and food hubs for distribution.(possible CSA).

• Organize inventory, materials, tools, and supplies.

• Have a good relationship with farm equipment ie, maintenance, manage repairs.

• Knowledge and maintenance of the irrigation system. Our water comes from mountain river water. We  have a sand filtration system with a fifteen thousand gallon water tank.  

• Removing invasive species, pest management.

• Work is 22.5 hours a week, spread between 4 or 5 days.

• Network with the Maui community, ie: attend Maui Farmers Union meetings. 

There is a communal farm kitchen, bathroom, and outdoor enclosed shower (see the stars at night!). Unfortunately, we do not have the laudry facilities.

There will be a 2 week trial period. We are a drug free zone and smoking is not allowed on the property. Minimum commitment of 3 months is required.
