All-
I recently purchased the study guide Cory mentioned a couple weeks back: A Study Companion to An Outline of Esoteric Science, by Clopper Almon, Anthroposophic Press, 1998, 127 pages, www.steinerbooks.org. I haven't started it yet, but it looks comprehensive, summarizing themes from each chapter and posing study and discussion questions.
Best,
Cynthia

Hello everyone! Warm new year greetings to each of you.
I just finished listening to Lecture #7. Since my schedule rarely allows me to listen the our class sessions in real time, I wanted to say that I especially loved the "picture consciousness" exercise that Cory gave us as well as the discussion you all had about it.
From my understanding of spiritual-science, our capacity to become "clairvoyant" is built on the development of our inner organ for "picture consciousness" (plus a lot of grace and humility). And I wanted to thank Cory for encouraging us to take this step and also reminding us that it can't be forced.
I also wanted to thank Asher for sharing his story about the honeybee. It was delightful. Although he did not express that picture consciousness was part of this experience, it seems that what he experienced cause a wonderful example of "telepathic" communication with a honeybee.
And this reminded me of a delightful little book called "Kinship With All Life" by J. Allen Boone, which relates the author's real-life experiences of learning to relate telepathically with various types of animals. It starts off kinda slow - with several chapters telling his story of how a German Shepherd dog named Srongheart taught him how to communicate telepathically. But after that, he goes on to tell of experiences with other animal forms. There is even a short chapter about bacteria. My favorite part are the last few chapters, which tell the story of his relationship with a housefly that he named Freddie. Please note that It was written in 1954. So it has a dated quality to it. It is also very light reading (especially compared to Steiner's work). Truly, it does not replace the inner work of developing picture consciousness - but it definitely supports building nonverbal communicate with all life forms.
Also, there is one other little similar book that you might enjoy -- "My Summer With the Leprechauns" by Tanis Helliwell, which shares the author's experiences with the Elemental Kingdom. Again, this is a "lightweight" look at the nature spirits in comparison to Steiner.
I believe both books are available through Amazon.
Cory, thanks again for this class. I am so thankful for your work in relating Occult Science to the plant kingdom, animal, kingdom and farm individuality. And I wondered if you are planning a Part 2 to "Digging Deeper" -- perhaps something based on Steiner's book "The Spiritual Hierarchies & The Physical World." Just a thought.
All the best, Pamela

Hi Pamela,
Thanks for your book recommendations, and contributing to the discussion, especially since you aren't able to make it to the live sessions. There is no part 2 to Digging Deeper in the works. My sense has always been that all this material only is relevent when it can be applied to practical situations in life. And as we move into the more practical aspects, we come to more specific circumstancial relationships that might be hard to speak about in a general way. I know how I have been working with this material on my farm and in my community, but other people in other situations could apply it in different ways.
We can have a discussion towards the end about "next steps" so keep the conversation going!
Cory
