One hundred years ago, a plucky crew of individuals bought the initial property to start Threefold Farm in Spring Valley, New York. The goal was to have both a working farm and an educational center for spiritual science and biodynamic agriculture. Two young women – Gladys Barnett and Elise Stolting – set off to Europe to receive training in biodynamics and, a year later, returned to seed a legacy that has lasted a century. What is now known as Threefold Community Farm is on the oldest continuously biodynamically cared-for land in North America.
Ehrenfried Pfeiffer, a central pioneer of biodynamics in this country, made Threefold Farm his residence for the last fifteen years of his life. He and his coworkers brought a major impulse to this location, the heritage of which lives on today. In 1996, the Pfeiffer Center was founded and is now starting its 31st year of “Practical Training in Biodynamics.”
The next cohort of the Pfeiffer Center at Threefold Community Farm's Practical Training in Biodynamics begins this September, and enrollment is now open!
