With Bill Day
Get off the package treadmill!
In this half-day workshop, Pfeiffer Center beekeeper Bill Day will present the biology of queen-rearing and swarming (the honeybee’s natural form of reproduction), and how to apply that knowledge to catching swarms and making your own splits. Weather permitting, much of the workshop will take place in the Pfeiffer Center garden, where Bill will demonstrate the techniques discussed in the classroom.
You will leave this workshop with clear guidelines on how to propagate your own hives and “get off the package treadmill.”
With Mac Mead

2020 Theme: The Four Elements and the Farm Individuality
Using Rudolf Steiner’s agriculture course as a foundation, we will delve into the qualities and mysteries of earth, air, fire, and water: how they guide the processes of life, and how they work creatively on the farm, helping to build and hold the biodynamic farm individuality.
We will work in large and small groups, through art, movement, observation exercises, and hands-on activities.
This meeting is open to everyone, from newcomers to old-timers interested in biodynamics. We are grateful to Luke Frey and Ian Powell, the new owner of Yokayo Ranch, for making it possible for biodynamic community to experience this very affordable and rich weekend. Drop in for a few hours or stay the whole time.
After catered breakfasts early on Saturday and Sunday mornings, Alexander and several eurythmists from the American Eurythmy School will be leading eurythmy sessions.
The Chesapeake BioDynamic Network of Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, West Virginia, and Delaware gathers for activities Friday, October 25- 7:30 pm & Saturday, October 26 -10:00 am at the Christian Community Parish House and Garden Grounds next to the University of Maryland at 4221 Metzerott Road in College Park, Maryland.
