Location

Churchtown Dairy and Hawthorne Valley Farm

Event Description

Dig into the work of biodynamics in dairy management, exploring its expression in two farms in the Hudson Valley. Staring the day will be a tour of the beautiful Churchtown Dairy, with its signature round barn, creamery, and medicinal garden. Here there will be an opportunity for some hands-on learning, followed by a rustic lunch in the farm store. Next, we’ll travel up to Hawthorne Valley Farm, a forerunner of biodynamics in the Hudson Valley. The dairy dates to 1976, and is part of their diverse farm organism which includes vegetable, grain, and meat production; thriving educational programming training the next generation of farmers; and a renowned farm store. Here we will tour the dairy, visit the cows, and hear from the farmers first hand.

Lunch is not included in the cost of any field day. Please either purchase a lunch option in Step 6 of registration or make other arrangements.

Travel Time: Please note that travel time for this field day, from the conference center, will be approximately 2 hours each way via bus. Please plan on arriving to the bus departure point at 8:00 am (after registering) to ensure a smooth check-in process. If you plan on driving to the field day in your own vehicle please contact Raphael at raphael@biodynamics.com to coordinate.
